As auditions continue in ‘America’s Got Talent,’ the stakes are getting higher and higher. But the talent is still going strong, and it’s mainly because of the preteens!
The America’s Got Talent judges may have found “the next Taylor Swift“ with 12-year-old Grace VanderWaal in Week 2, so they’ll likely be looking for some serious talent to compete alongside Grace and the rest of Season 11’s contestants. We’ve seen everything from dancing dogs to rock-singing grandpas, but Week 3 proves that it’s still the youngins who are going to be the ones to beat!
Right off the bat, we meet a sassy group of girls who go by the name Good Girl — and whose dream is to be “The American Spice Girls.” I don’t know that they were necessarily on the level of the Spice Girls, but they sure had the confidence to get there — and considering an original Spice Girl called them “flawless,” they at least had what it takes to go through to the next round!
Amidst watching a slew of young dance crews, the judges meet a group of seniors who bring dancing back to the 50s (maybe even earlier, sorry I’m not so great with decades…): The John Rothman Dancers. The only person who was against their not-so-challenging dance routine was Howie, so they were through. But I have to admit, I don’t expect them to stick around too long…
If at first you don’t succeed, try again and you might have better luck — unless you’re Diane the hula hooper. Although she didn’t win the judges over the second time around, a Russian bar trio sure did — frankly, they kind of made the first two successful acts look like a piece of cake. And as Simon Cowell perfectly put it, “It was more than a comeback, it was a triumph.”
We’ve already met “the next Taylor Swift” with Grace, but 12-year-old Kadie Lynn is definitely going to give her a run for her money — how does a middle schooler have a voice like that already?! I have a feeling AGT may turn into the Grace and Kadie Lynn show!
After being blown away by a 12-year-old, a pair of 50-somethings practically took my breath away even more. They performed an extremely nerve-wracking tightrope routine and managed to totally nail it! It’ll be interesting to see what else they do throughout the competition (especially against two 12-year-olds).
A 12-piece high school a cappella group called OneVoice had another unanimous vote with their performance, even getting Simon to say that he loved them. Honestly they didn’t blow me away as much as some of the other acts, but there’s definitely potential with Simon on their side!
It’s not every episode we see three actually funny comedians, but that happened this time around! The best was Lori Mae, whose backstory will have you in happy tears. Man, these preteens and young teens are really proving to be the frontrunners this season!
Perhaps the best part of the night came with a boob-shaking woman who got nice and flirty with Simon, making him totally uncomfortable — but earning three yesses solely so she’ll do it once more. Too good!
Despite the strange outfit on Viktor the juggler, he was incredible. I can’t wait to see what else he does throughout the competition, but I do hope he doesn’t always wear a naked body jumpsuit…
For the finale of this week, we meet perhaps the most Italian contestant yet: Sal Valentinetti. After making me laugh endlessly with his uber-Italian mannerisms and vernacular, he gave an amazing rendition of Frank Sinatra‘s “My Way.” He won over all the judges, but most importantly Heidi Klum, who used her Golden Buzzer on Sal! Talk about an emotional finish!
Not surprisingly, Simon is the only judge left with his buzzer, so everyone will certainly be on the edge of their seats next week to see who gets Simon’s ticket to the live shows!
