There’s yet another shocking development in the Orlando shooting case. Omar Mateen, the man who gunned down 50 people on June 11, may have had a profile on a gay dating app, and even messaged with other men, a new report claims. Here’s the scoop.
We definitely did not expect this! The Orlando nightclub shooter Oman Mateen, 29, allegedly had a profile on a gay dating app, and even exchanged messages with other gay men, according to a new report. This is a shocking development in a case where the heinous crimes he committed have been widely attributed to homophobia. We have all the details on the report, here.

This is crazy. Though many believe Omar opened fire on Pulse Nightclub in Orlando because he was homophobic, Gawker now reports that he may have actually had a profile on a gay dating app. Not only that, but he chatted with men on it too. You can stream music ad-free and unlimited, RIGHT HERE.
ABC7 reports that the app is called Jack’d, and that a man named Kevin West told them of his encounter with the shooter. He says Omar contacted him three months before the violent event, explaining “when he first contacted me, he was saying things like, ‘What clubs are popping and things of that sort, what are good places to go?'” Explained Kevin. “And I remember telling him, ‘Oh, you can just look it up online because I don’t go out that much.”
When Kevin realized on June 12 that Omar was the man who had killed 50 people and injured another 53 at Pulse nightclub, he immediately brought his correspondence to the FBI. Reporter Chris Hayes allegedly has even more reports of men who were messaged by Omar.
The man I spoke with today also said the shooter has messaged him on a gay dating app. His friend as well. We'll run the interview tonight.

Gawker also reports that Omar had been going to Pulse for three years, and had been involved in several violent encounters with other patrons and employees. Though many originally thought Omar was homophobic, and his parents told a story of him being angered at the sight of two men kissing, he may have been a frustrated, closeted gay man.
