This is incredible. The GoFundMe page that Selena Gomez’s stepfather started for Christina Grimmie’s family has surpassed the $100k mark.
Christina Grimmie, 22, was a dear friend of Selena Gomez, 23, and her family for many years before she was tragically killed. In order to help her family in the aftermath of her murder, Selena’s stepfather, Brian Teefey, started a fundraiser online. In less than three days, Christina’s fans have raised nearly ten times the amount originally asked to help her family.

We are blown away by the generosity of Christina Grimmie’s fans. Over 4,000 people came together on the GoFundMe page set up by Christina’s longtime friend and manager, Brian Teefey, and raised more than $120,000 as on Monday morning, June 13. All of the money will be going to Christina’s family, to help pay for any and all costs regarding her memorial service, funeral, and more.
“Words cannot begin to describe the pain I am feeling. I learned this business through the eyes of a father and Christina was like a second daughter to me,” Brian, who is also Selena Gomez’s stepfather, wrote on the GoFundMe page. “In Christina’s honor I have created a Go Fund Me page to assist her family in their time of need.”
As mentioned above, Christina and Selena were very close friends for years. One night after Christina’s murder, Selena took the stage in Miami, Florida as part of her Revival tour and dedicated Hillsong Worship’s “Transfiguration” to her fallen friend. The performance was difficult for Selena to get through as she broke down crying more than once, and apologized to her fans for not being able to sing at certain points.
Selena also reminisced about meeting Christina to the audience, “When she was 14, we met her – my parents and I signed her. And one thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. It’s not about her religion, and it’s not about good deeds. It’s just that she had faith. And I don’t really understand how this happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her.” You can watch the heartbreaking tribute performance above.
