Wow. Michael Jace will serve a minimum of 40 years in prison for brutally murdering his wife, April, in 2014 as their children watched.
Michael Jace, 53, has finally been sentenced for fatally shooting his wife, April, on May 19, 2014 inside their Los Angeles, California home. After being found guilty just over one year later after a grueling murder trial, the former The Shield star received his official punishment.
On Friday, June 10, Michael Jace told the courtroom that there was “no justifications” for his “actions” the day he shot and killed his wife, April, with their two young children present. Moments later he was handed a sentence of 40 years to life in prison, which at his age of 53 years old could end up being a “life” sentence no matter how long he serves.
The sentence is actually a combination of two charges, with the first 15 years for the second degree murder and 25 years for the gun enhancement, reports NBC News. He was found guilty on May 31 after a jury of twelve people made up of six men and six women deliberated for approximately two hours. Michael did not testify during the trial.
Michael shot and killed April using a handgun after allegedly choking her. Sadly, it was later revealed that their two young children witnessed the entire ordeal, including April’s death. It was later reported that the two children had been released to a family member’s custody after Michael was arrested for killing April.
Our thoughts go out to April’s family, friends, and children during this very difficult time.
