Not cool at all. The USA swim team did the only thing they could after Brock was convicted of raping another student who was passed out — they banned him for life reports USA Today. Bravo to the USA swim team and shame on Brock. Family, friends and people everywhere were outraged when a judge handed down a light sentence to Brock upon finding the athlete guilty of rape. People took to the internet to voice their outrage upon the injustice. Prosecutors on the case were also let down as they were seeking a six-year sentence for the despicable crime.
Brock’s father, Dan Turner, attracted anger when he penned a letter to judge Aaron Persky asking for leniency on his son. “His life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve. That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life,” Dan wrote in a letter which has landed the father in hot water. The three counts of sexual assault Brock was convicted of for the incident which took place on Jan. 18, 2015, carried a 15 year maximum sentence. He is currently serving a 6 month jail sentence and could be free in 3 months.
