Before you make the cut (whether blunt or wispy like Selena), we asked Nicole Contrastano of Pierre Michel Salon in NYC for her top four tips.
Fake ‘Em First: “Go to a place like Ricky’s or even search online for bang attachments to try out and see if bangs are for you.”
Decide If They Suit You: “In general, people with medium to large foreheads and straight hair do well with bangs. Bangs do not wear well on a small forehead, wavy or frizzy hair and one who has a cowlick. Longer and oval faces do well with bangs but not round faces.”
Talk To Your Stylist: “Discuss with your stylist what bangs are best for you, but in general, blunt bangs give a more severe, edgy look [and] wispy [bangs are] softer and sexier.”
Style Smart: “Blow-dry with the nozzle attachment which directs the air [for a smooth finish]. Use either a 1 and a 1/2 inch barrel boar hair brush or boar hair flat brush on the hair. If you have sensitive skin, never put products in your bangs because it may cause breakouts.”
