Yee-haw! Chris Stapleton’s performance of ‘Parachute’ at the 2016 at the CMT Awards in Nashville, Tennessee was incredible! The crowd went nuts for Chris…and we did too!
That boy can sing! Chris Stapleton, 38, melted hearts when he shared his instant classic “Parachute” on stage at the CMT Music Awards. Don’t let the long hair and beard fool you — Chris has been on a roll lately and the CMT stage was his latest victim. His performance of “Parachute” killed it.
With his cowboy hat on, Chris strummed his guitar and sang beautifully during a performance that stood out in a night of big acts at the CMTs. Florida Georgia Line also made a big splash with “H.O.L.Y.” on the award show stage as did Carrie Underwood, who sang her hit “Church Bells.” Then there was the collaboration of Pharrell Williams and Little Big Town, amazing! There are so many award shows that grab our attention and the CMTs never disappoints. Stream country music completely unlimited and ad-free HERE.
Chris had a breakout year — after dropping his latest album in May 2015, he has been on big stages across the country singing all of his hits. Chris brought a little country to the 2016 Coachella festival in California in May, then sang “Fire Away” with his wife Morgane Stapleton at the 2016 ACM’s. Whew, that makes us tired just thinking about it all. Chris is always awesome when he sings and he was equally touching at the CMTs.
The country singer/songwriter was nominated for several awards at the show and even won for Breakthrough Video of the Year for the track “Fire Away.” JJ Watt and Erin Andrews were the hosts of the 2016 CMT’s and the show was jam-packed with amazing performances and awesome award winners.
