Some of our favorite ladies in comedy star on their own covers for ‘ELLE’ magazine’s first ‘Women in Comedy’ issue. All four stars of the latest flick, ‘Ghostbusters,’ have their own cover & they all look fabulous! What do you guys think of this issue?
ELLE mag just debuted their very first, Women in Comedy issue, and it is quite possibly the best thing we have ever seen. Kate McKinnon, 32, Kristen Wiig, 42, Leslie Jones, 48, and Melissa McCarthy, 45, are all set to star in the highly anticipated new comedy, Ghostbusters, which hits theaters on July 15. Not only do these four comedienne’s look fabulous on their covers and in the spread, they talk about the most hilarious topics. What do you guys think of this July issue?
Melissa was interviewed by fashion designer, Brian Atwood, and she discussed what it’s like to fight for the characters she plays. “I get so psychotically attached to all of my characters, and I fight for them in probably the most annoying way. I hear myself saying to Ben or Paul [Feig, Ghostbusters’ director], ‘She wouldn’t phrase it that way.’ I know it’s such an actory thing, but I feel it to my core: I have to represent the woman I’m getting to be. Even if she’s fictitious, she’s always real to me: three-dimensional, flawed, loving, screwed-up, as real women are.”
Kate was interviewed by Lizzy Goodman, and she dished about understanding who she really is. “I came to a reckoning that [pretending to be other people] is in fact such a real, huge chunk of the way I communicate. I thought it was something I was putting on to disguise something else, but it’s not.”
Leslie, interviewed by Ben Dickison, shared what it was like to realize how funny she was. “I just knew that I was funny, and I knew that it was just a matter of time. I didn’t know what was going to actually happen—this is definitely way bigger than I thought—but I knew there was no way I was going to be that funny and nobody was going to notice it.”
Kristen was interviewed by none other than, Will Ferrell, 48. He asked what it was like being introduced to SNL. “My very first show I got on something that I wrote. I was weirdly less nervous for that than I was for the first sketch I was in, which was about someone being pregnant in their butt. I think it was Poehler, and we had a baby shower for her and – I was scared that I was going to freeze or swear or pass out.”
All of these ladies are obviously hysterical, but more than that, they all looked gorgeous and super stylish on their own covers. Kristen was decked out in a Marc Jacobs jacket and trousers paired with a Morgan Lane bra. Kate was dresses in a Dolce & Gabbana blazer and trousers, Leslie donned a Sophie Theallet gown, and Melissa was rocking a Prabal Gurung blouse and skirt.
How fabulous is this issue — are you as obsessed with it as we are? We can’t wait for the July issue to hit newsstands on June 21, can you?
