“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and concern after hearing I was in the hospital,” the Sweatin’ To The Oldies superstar told Us Weekly. “I was dehydrated and needed some fluids and now I am feeling great! Summer is here — drink plenty of liquids. Big hugs and kisses for caring.”
Phew! Thankfully, it was only dehydration — but it was still scary! Richard was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles just before midnight on June 3, after his housekeeper (and longtime friend) Teresa Reveles called 911. He had been “demonstrating bizarre conduct” and ultimately became “incoherent.” Yikes! The paramedics that arrived to the scene determined that Richard needed further evaluation, and they took him to get medical help.
He only stayed in the hospital for a day, as doctors released him on June 4. “He’s just fine,” his rep, Tom Estey, said afterward. Though at the time, Richard’s rep wouldn’t go into detail why Richard was bizarrely incoherent, it’s good to know the weight-loss superstar is doing better. 2016 has been strange for the flamboyant fitness expert, as in March 2016, Richard’s close friend claimed that his housekeeper was keeping Richard “hostage” in his Hollywood Hills. After being two years out of the spotlight, Richard broke his silence to slam the “very hurtful” allegations made against his friend. “No one should be worried about me.” Richard said. “The people that surround me are wonderful people who take great care of me.” Here’s hoping they remind Richard to have an extra glass of water or two this summer so he doesn’t get dehydrated again.
Are you surprised that Richard was hospitalized for dehydration, HollywoodLifers? Are you glad that he’s okay?
