Renee Zellweger has graced the cover of ‘British VOGUE’ for the very first time, & it’s absolutely flawless! The ‘Bridget Jones’ actress had so much to say about playing the iconic character and how her weight should never be an issue — it’s amazing! What do you guys think of her cover?
Renee Zellweger, 47, is the fabulous July cover star of British VOGUE, and the actress has never looked better! With the anticipated return of her new film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, we couldn’t be happier that she graced the cover of the mag and she had so much to say about fame, life, and playing the iconic, Bridget Jones. What do you guys think of her cover — doesn’t she look gorgeous?
The cover shoot was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, and Renee looks flawless in a slew of Summery photos.
Renee looks so fresh-faced and naturally beautiful on the cover of the magazine, which was styled by associate fashion editor, Verity Parker. Renee is posed in a cute, yellow pink and green floral Prada dress, which we are obsessed with! She is also featured lounging in a gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana Banana Leaf-Print Belted Gown.
Aside from Renee looking ever-so-fabulous, she had so much to say about being the iconic movie character, Bridget Jones. “I found anonymity, so I could have exchanges with people on a human level and be seen and heard, not be defined by this image that precedes me when I walk into a room. You cannot be a good storyteller if you don’t have life experiences, and you can’t relate to people,” she said.
As for why it has taken so long for another Bridget Jones flick to come out, Renee admitted she was literally just exhausted. “As a creative person, saying no to that wonderful once-in-a-lifetime project is hard. But I was fatigued and wasn’t taking the time I needed to recover between projects, and it caught up with me. I got sick of the sound of my own voice: it was time to go away and grow up a bit.”
Something Renee dished about, though, that is seriously resonating with us, is about the scrutiny she faces when her body weight changes in order to play the role of Bridget. “I put on a few pounds. I also put on some breasts and a baby bump. Bridget is a perfectly normal weight and I’ve never understood why it matters so much. No male actor would get such scrutiny if he did the same thing for a role.” We could not agree with her more, and we think it’s amazing how she stuck up for herself and all other women!
We cannot wait for the magazine to hit newsstands on June 9, so we can read everything else Renee had to say, do you agree?!
