Korn guitarist and backup singer Brian ‘Head’ Welch confessed on the Allegedly podcast that he used to get meth sent to him while he was touring around the world with the band! Click through to listen to his shocking interview!
Brian “Head” Welch, the guitarist and backup vocalist for the rock band Korn, told hosts Theo Von and Matt Weiss on the Allegedly podcast on June 6 that he’s lucky to be alive after seriously abusing drugs. Brian confessed that he used to use FedEx to get drugs delivered to him worldwide! Listen to his disturbing account after the jump.
Theo and Matt asked Brian to tell them about the lowest point in his life during their episode, which will be released in full on iTunes on Tuesday, June 7. Brian was quick to recount a terrible period of his life when he was so hooked on meth that he couldn’t go without it while on tour.
“[My lowest point was] in Germany 2004, in the winter,” Brian said. “I was watching a package come from California into New York, then to the UK, then to somewhere else, and then in Germany. And it had my three 8 balls of meth in it. And I was watching it in my FedEx online, and so that was the gutter.”
So it’s safe to say that Brian recognized at that point that he had a serious problem! When you’re shipping drugs to yourself from California to Germany, over 5000 miles, something is definitely wrong. “I could [have gotten] arrested for stuff like that, sending drugs over…I’ve got my daughter at home, and I was risking everything. Everything in my life, and so that was the bottom,” Brian told Theo and Matt.
He confessed that his situation was so dire, that he tragically began thinking about taking his own life. Terrifying! “That was the period where I was most suicidal, because I hated myself, guilt, shame, all that.”
