For her crowning moment, Deshauna donned her long-sleeved gold gown with fringe detailing. Prior to the show, Deshauna shared that Leah Laviano was behind her makeup look, which included a traditional pageant smokey eye and false lashes. Instead of opting for a glossy nude lip most of the other contestants wore, Deshauna chose a darker shade. For the finishing pageant beauty touch, Deshauana’s long hair was styled into soft curls with the help of CHI.
Helping to make the final decision were Ali Landry, Joe Zee, Laura Brown, Nigel Barker and Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart, who all served as judges, choosing Deshauna after she defined what the show’s motto, “confidently beautiful” meant to her.
Last year’s winner, Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan was on hand to crown Deshauna. As 2015’s Miss USA, Olivia shared on the show’s broadcast that one of the highlights from her amazing year included heading to Washington D.C. to lobby for ovarian cancer research. Ahead of the show, Olivia shared a throwback pic on her Instagram from her own crowning moment, saying: “Thank you for the most extraordinary year of my life so far.🙌🏼✨ I feel truly blessed.”
