Somebody’s still with us! A fan favorite showed his face again on the June 5 episode of ‘Game of Thrones.’ It was about freaking time!
[SPOILER]’s baaaack! One of the show’s most beloved characters reappeared alive and well on the June 5 episode of Game of Thrones. Plus, Jon Snow and Sansa attempted to build up their army, Margaery revealed whose side she’s really on, and Jaime left King’s Landing!
Whoa. Game of Thrones didn’t start out with their never-ending opening credits. Instead, we got our first look at Ian McShane’s character! I already love him. Why? Because he saved THE HOUND! He had survived his fight with Brienne and was now working for Ian’s character, Brother Ray.
Brother Ray had found The Hound and thought he was a goner. “What kept you going?” Ray asked. “Hate,” The Hound replied. Ray knew that The Hound had a bigger destiny than just chopping wood.
Margaery was in the midst of her deep con. Was the High Sparrow really fooled? It would be difficult not to believe her act. The High Sparrow’s next plan was to convert Olenna. He urged Margaery to get Olenna on their side — or else her “safety” was at risk. Don’t threaten the Queen of Thorns! When Margaery went to Olenna, her grandmother was not having it. She thought Margaery was acting crazy.
Well, Margaery was acting crazy. She said Loras needed to confess and repent his sins. Olenna was shocked at Margaery’s words. Loras was the future of House Tyrell! Margaery begged her grandmother to leave King’s Landing. In a stealth move, Margaery managed to sneak a note to Olenna.
“I’ll see you soon, my dear,” Olenna told Margaery before she left. The note featured a rose, the sigil of House Tyrell. Margaery was still a Tyrell! Get ready for the terror of the Tyrells, High Sparrow.
‘The Dead Are Coming’
Before Olenna left King’s Landing, she had one nasty verbal beatdown left in her for Cersei. Olenna blamed Cersei for everything that had happened with the High Sparrow. Shockingly, Cersei admitted she had been wrong, but it was now time to team up to fight the High Sparrow. Olenna refused to stick around. She knew if she stayed, she would end up in a cell. But we all know Olenna’s going to be plotting how to defeat the High Sparrow over in Highgarden. Catch up on past seasons of Game of Thrones HERE on iTunes!
Up in the North, some of the Wildlings were uncertain about fighting alongside Jon to get back Winterfell. Jon needed the Wildlings, and the Wildlings needed Jon to get back Winterfell if they were going to survive. If any Wildling was unsure about where they stood, Tormund convinced them to be on Team Jon. He stood by Jon and reminded everyone that Jon had died for all of them.
Jon, Sansa and Davos headed to Bear Island, where they had a meeting with Lyanna Mormont. Man, she was a force to be reckoned with. After meeting her, it’s not a surprise that she wrote that note to Stannis. Jon was there to ask for her support. Lyanna questioned Jon. After all, he was a Snow, and Sansa was technically a Bolton.
That’s when Davos took a step forward. “Make no mistake, the dead are coming,” he warned Lyanna. She agreed to help them out with 62 fighting men. It wasn’t what they were hoping for, but it was something, especially since House Glover turned them down hard.
Jon was ready to march on Winterfell now, but Sansa believed they needed more men. Jon thought they didn’t have any time to waste. But Sansa didn’t listen. Behind Jon’s back, Sansa sent a letter. Was it addressed to Littlefinger?
A Girl Can Trust No One
Jaime did what Tommen asked and left King’s Landing. He took thousands of men along with him. Bronn also tagged along. Jaime met up with Lothar Frey and Black Walder outside of Riverrun. Even though the Frey boys had Edmure Tully and threatened to kill him, Blackfish wasn’t budging. Jaime arrived and took over the siege.
Jaime even came face-to-face with Blackfish and attempted to bargain with him. Nothing worked. Before walking away from Jaime, Blackfish remarked how “disappointed” he was in the Kingslayer.
Theon and Yara were still on the run from their dirty uncle. They made a pit stop before heading to Meereen. Yara had a real “come to Jesus” moment with Theon. If they were going to take back the Iron Islands, she needed the real Theon back, not this weak version of her brother. With the help of a lot of ale, Theon slowly came out of the shadow he’d been hiding in. I think I saw some light in those deep eyes.
Brother Ray made a big speech to his people about helping others. Men showed up and asked for horses. Brother Ray turned them down, but offered them dinner. As soon as the men rode away, you knew something was going to happen.
Later, when The Hound returned from chopping wood, he found Brother Ray and his people murdered, likely by those men. Brother Ray had been the one to mend the broken man we all know and love. He had saved The Hound. And now The Hound wanted to avenge Ray’s death. Watch out, world.
Arya was preparing to leave Braavos. She was done with that place. But she wasn’t able to slip out easily. The Waif, masked as an old woman, stabbed Arya! The strong Stark escaped, but she was severely wounded. She walked through the streets of Braavos fearful The Waif was all around her. She couldn’t trust anyone. Will Arya be able to get out of Braavos alive?! She could really use The Hound’s help right about now…
