Prince passed away due to an opioid overdose and something called fentanyl toxicity. “Fentanyl is a synthetic narcotic of high potency — about 100 times more potent than morphine,” Dr. Barry M. Rose, Md., Anesthesiologist at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California, EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com. “It can be injected, inhaled, put under the tongue, or used via a transdermal patch.”
“It seems clear that Prince was a long time narcotic user, if not addict,” Dr. Rose tells HollywoodLife.com. “From what has been described he also used a mixture of various drugs, including other narcotics. This is a common theme in recent celebrity deaths, including Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Whitney Houston, and others.”
Like Prince, Michael died from an overdose in 2009, after Conrad Murray over-prescribed him the narcotic Propofol. Before he died, Prince actually sought out help from addiction expert Dr. Howard Kornfeld. Howard’s son, Andrew Kornfeld, who went in his father’s place, had brought some synthetic opiates with him to Prince’s Paisley Park estate, hoping to wean Prince off the real drug. Sadly, Andrew was too late.
“It appears that Prince was using narcotics including Fentanyl by various methods — pill, patch, and injection,” Dr. Barry Rose tells Hollywoodlife.com. “It seems his final act was injecting Fentanyl, which combined with the other drugs in his system, caused his death.”
Now that the mystery of what exactly killed Prince has been solved, the big question remains: who gets his $300 million estate? Along with his sister, Tyka Nelson, 56, and his many half-siblings, he reportedly has a secret grandniece that also wants a cut of his fortune. On top of that, there’s Carlin Q. Williams, 39, who claims to be Prince’s biological son. While one mystery ends, another continues.
Are you surprised that Prince’s death was similar to Michael and Whitney’s death, HollywoodLifers?
