The entire University of California, Los Angeles has been locked down, following reports of an alleged shooting on the UCLA’s campus on June 1. The police have confirmed that two people were killed during this horrific event and the alleged shooter remains still at large.
Once again, another school campus in America has become a tragic scene, as a reported shooting has taken place at the University of California at Los Angeles. The LAPD, FBI and ATF are still investigating the deadly attack while the entire school remains on lockdown.
The reported shooting happened shortly after 10:00 A.M. PST near Boelter Hall, per ABC7, part of UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineer and Applied Science. The school responded immediately to the attack by putting the entire campus on lockdown as authorities responded to the distress call. After the LAPD arrived in tactical gear, they entered the building to reportedly find two victims. After reporting them as “down,” the LAPD sadly confirmed that the two people were dead, per Variety. Update: The shooting was a murder-suicide. Click here for the details.
The alleged shooter remains active and has been described as a Caucasian man, standing 6-feet tall, according to CBS Los Angeles. He was last seeing a black jacket and black pants. Click here to watch coverage of the shooting.
“Go to a secure location and deny entry (lockdown) now,” UCLA’s official twitter wrote in response to the shooting. More than 40,000 students attend UCLA, per CNN, as it’s one of the most famous academic institutions in the world. The university remains in session, as it’s the last week of classes. Final exams are scheduled for next week and graduation is shortly thereafter.

“At first, we weren’t really sure it was real,” Landen Baldwin, a UCLA student, said from his apartment a few blocks from the school to NBC News. “It was a very quick turnaround time between the alert about police activity and the confirmation that there was a shooting.” A nurse at nearby Ronald Reagan Medical Center told NBC News that the hospital was also placed on lockdown.
Locking down such a large university in a densely packed urban area is “a monumental task,” according to CNN senior law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes. Agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were also helping with the investigation, according to Fox 31. Hopefully, the authorities can apprehend the alleged shooter before any more people fall victim to this horrendous attack.
We will continue to update this developing story with all the details as they are made available, HollywoodLifers. Our thoughts continue to go out to the friends and family of the two victims and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
