Haters gonna hate! The new all-female ‘Ghostbusters’ arrives in theaters this summer, and already, people are hating on it. One of the film’s biggest stars, Melissa McCarthy, addressed the hate and said she hopes they all ‘find a friend.’ Read her message!
Some people want world peace, but Melissa McCarthy, 45, just wants all of the haters of the Ghostbusters reboot to find a friend and stop bashing her movie. It’s already been hailed as the most disliked trailer on YouTube, but that doesn’t bother her at all. She is giving everyone a piece of her mind, and letting them know that this sexism won’t stand. You go, Melissa!
“All those comments — ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really? Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood? I have a visual of those people not having a Ben [Falcone, McCarthy’s husband of 10 years], not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the internet. I just hope they find a friend,” the actress dished to The Guardian.
She’s got a point. It’s hard to believe that a lighthearted movie about chasing down ghosts could inspire such vitriol and hate, but it seems that people are less than pleased with this new film. We’re hoping they find friends too! Maybe someone they can take to see this epic film with.
It’s sad that most of the promotion for this movie has been about fending off the haters who don’t seem to understand the need for an all-female reboot. McCarthy has gotten a lot of backlash for this film, but continues to stand by it no matter the cost. Hopefully it can live up to the hype that they are creating for it.

Melissa has been a major defender of the newest reboot, and for her sake, we are definitely rooting for all of these funny ladies to hit it out of the park. Hopefully they can finally dispel this dumb rumor that females aren’t funny. Let’s be real, this new reboot might just make history! Girl power!
