Was there ever any doubt? Uhhh yes there was a whole lot of doubt. In fact no one can quite believe it happened this way! Stephen Curry, 28, and his beloved Warriors who made history going 73-9 in the regular season, looked like they might end up without even making a trip to the NBA Finals after going down 1-3. They weren’t playing well, and the Thunder with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the ever-improving Steven Adams looked like it was their time.
But the Warriors showed true grit taking game 5 at home in Oakland and then game 6 in front of a hostile crowd in OKC. Then came game 7 where the Thunder took control from the start leading 48-42 at the half despite an amazing high arching lay up by Steph as time expired. But then whatever coach of the year, Steve Kerr, said to his team in the locker room made an impact! The Warriors came out guns blazing, outscoring the Thunder 29-12 in the third and taking a 71-60 lead.
Steph, who has proven time and time again why he’s the MVP, led his team down the stretch, making 3 key free throws with just over a minute left in the game, taking a 93-86 lead. From there they continued to scratch and claw for every loose ball and proved that they deserved the 96-88 victory.
Steph will definitely be celebrating this victory with his angel Riley Curry and beautiful wife Ayesha Curry. They should enjoy every moment of this incredible win tonight because tomorrow they will have to focus on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers who are waiting for them with bated breath. Yes it will be a repeat of the 2015 NBA finals and WE CAN’T WAIT!
