That was a lucky escape! Alan Pulido, 25, the Mexican soccer star who was kidnapped by armed masked men has been returned back to the authorities, a day after he was snatched. His family must be so relieved he’s ok!
Alan, a striker who has represented the Mexican national team and plays his club soccer in Greece for Olympiakos, was feared dead after it was reported 6 men carrying guns cut his car off as he was driving on a highway in his hometown of Ciudad Victoria in the Tamaulipas state. He was believed to have been bundled into a vehicle, while his girlfriend Ileana Salas was left unharmed.
But after a massive police hunt yesterday, Alan appeared with a bandage on his hand and told reporters he was doing “very well.” Details of the police operation are scarce, but the local authorities confirmed their sting took place in the evening of May 29.
Earlier reports had said that Alan was abducted in the early hours of May 29 after returning from a party with his girlfriend. His car was surrounded by several trucks and six masked men took him away “by force” while Ileana watched on.
Tamaulipas Governor, Egidio Torre Cantu, was a relieved figure and told journalists: “The most important thing is that he is here, he is with us, and that’s what we want to tell you.” We second that notion completely!
Tamaulipas is recognized as one of the most dangerous places in the world, with over 1,000 kidnappings reported every year. We’re just happy to see that this one had a happy ending in the end.
