Bernie Sanders made his way back to ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ in advance of California’s primary and of course he had to show the host some love for asking Donald Trump on his behalf to debate him, which Donald shockingly said sounded like a good idea!
Jimmy Kimmel, 48, got a chance to feel the Bern when Sen. Bernie Sanders, 74, dropped by his show May 26. The Democratic presidential hopeful made his case for why he should be our next leader, but also talked about the big news that on the show the night before, Donald Trump, 69, revealed he’d be open to debating Bernie!

“You saw the show last night, you saw what I did for you?” Jimmy told him, about how he posed Bernie’s question to his May 25 guest Donald Trump, 69, about the possibility of a debate between the two candidates. The Republican nominee said he was open to it, if money was raised and given to charity.
“You made it possible to have a very interesting debate about two guys who look at the world very, very differently,” Bernie replied, noting that, “I think the goal would be to have it in some big stadium here in California,” and that there has been network interest, though he wouldn’t say from who. Donald even doubled down on the campaign trail May 26 that he is still open to the idea, so he wasn’t just kidding around on Jimmy’s show.
Bernie lit into Hillary Clinton, 68, for backing out of their debate that was scheduled ahead of California’s June 7 primary, saying “I think it’s kind of insulting to the people of the largest state in the United States of America to not come forward and talk about the serious issues that impact the state…so I’m disappointed she chose not to go forward.”
Jimmy played a clip of an interview Hillary did where she boldly said, “I will be the nominee for my party, there’s no that way I won’t be.” Bernie responded, “Ooh, just a tinge of arrogance there. I kind of think on June 7 the people of California will have a message for Secretary Clinton, don’t count your chickens,” to a rousing round of applause.
Jimmy made sure to pitch himself as Bernie’s Vice Presidential pick, noting that, “I am available to be your running mate. I’ve already brought one Democrat and one Republican together with you and Donald Trump, I really feel like I can continue this in Congress. I don’t build walls, I build bridges,” in a hilarious swipe at the Donald’s immigration policy. We are loving how seriously Jimmy is taking this Vice Presidential race, even if it is just a running joke.
HollywoodLifers, what did you think about Bernie’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel? Does it make you want to vote for him?
