Winnie-the-Pooh and the Royal Birthday, narrated by Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent and illustrated by Mark Burgess — in the style of original Pooh illustrator E.H. Shepard — is a charming story featuring all your Hundred Acre Woods favorites. Piglet, Eeyore, Pooh, and Christopher Robin take on London to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, and along the way, they meet Prince George! How precious is THAT?
The tale begins when the storybook gang receive a “Most Urgent” letter informing them of the Queen Elizabeth’s milestone birthday. And from there, adorableness obviously ensues as Pooh and his pals visit famous London sites including Buckingham Palace, the Tube, and Trafalgar Square.
“What do you think they keep under their hats, Pooh?” Piglet asked after seeing the Queen’s guards at the palace. And when the group finally meets little George, the friends describe the nearly three-year-old as “much younger than Christopher Robin and almost as bouncy as Tigger.” Aw!
The whole story is centered around Pooh and his friends trying to deliver a birthday gift to the Queen. In the end, they finally make it to meet Her Majesty, and they present her with their own thoughtful 90th birthday presents.
