Legal documents reveal that both stars gave up their right to spousal support and that the split is finally finalized, according to E! News. Chris and Gwyn were married for more than 11 years when they revealed to fans they were separating in March 2014. She filed for divorce just over a year later.
“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate,” they wrote in a statement. “We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”
The exes are parents to Apple, 12, and Moses, 10, and they have, indeed remained close since the split, even living in homes right next door to one another so they can be there at all times for their kids.
“We are not living together, but he’s more than welcome to be with us whenever he wants,” the actress told Glamour. “And vice versa: I sleep in his house in Malibu a lot with the kids. We’ll have a weekend all together; holidays, we’re together. We’re still very much a family, even though we don’t have a romantic relationship. He’s like my brother.”
But both celebs have also moved on: Gwyneth is dating producer/director Brad Falchuck, while Chris dated Jennifer Lawrence for a while and has been linked to several other women in the past two years.
