Bernie Sanders is chomping at the bit to get a chance to debate Donald Trump, even though he hasn’t secured the Democratic presidential nomination. Keep reading for why the Vermont Senator is so excited to make the tycoon feel the BERN!
Whoa! Bernie Sanders, 74, has thrown down the gauntlet to Donald Trump, 69, that he wants to square off with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee about their incredibly opposing views. Since Hillary Clinton, 68, has refused to debate Bernie ahead of the big California primary June 7, he wants to go one on one with The Donald. We’d love to see Donald dare to call him “Crazy Bernie” to the candidate’s his face!

“We are ready to debate Donald Trump. We hope he will not chicken out. I think it will be great for America to see these two candidates and the different visions they have for America going forward,” Bernie’s campaign manager Jeff Weaver told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer May 26. “What we’ll have to see, Wolf, is does Donald Trump have the courage to get on the stage with Bernie Sanders. That remains to be seen.”
For his part, Donald seems up for the idea but only if he gets shown the money. When the candidate appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! May 25, and Bernie got to directly throw the challenge his way. He asked via the host, “Hillary Clinton backed out of an agreement to debate me in California before the June 7 primary. Are you prepared to debate the largest issues facing the state and country before the California primary, yes or no.” Donald agreed, sort of.
“Yes I am, how much is he going to pay me? Because if I debated him, we would have such high ratings, and I think I should take that money and give it to some worthy charity. If he paid a nice sum towards a charity I’d do it.”
Donald doubled down on the sentiment while campaigning in North Dakota, saying “I’d love to debate Bernie. He’s a dream. If we can raise for maybe women’s health issues or something. If we can raise $10 or $15 million for charity, which would be a very appropriate amount.”
He even claims his team has been in talks with several networks about hosting the debate.”It should be in a big arena somewhere. And we can have a lot of fun with it. I’d love to debate Bernie” he said. “The problem with debating Bernie is he’s going to lose. Because honestly his system is rigged. Just like our system is rigged.” So true. With Hillary approaching the delegate count needed to secure the Democratic nomination, it looks like the next debate we’re going to see is this fall when Donald and Hillary will go head to head in Presidential debates.
