Dick Wolf has done it again. The finale of ‘Law and Order: SVU’ had us absolutely shocked and heartbroken when it killed off one of its own.
Spoiler alert: if you haven’t watched the May 25 finale of Law and Order: SVU, do not read this!

While ADA Barba (Raul Esparza) had been getting threatened for months, it was the end of the road for another favorite — Mike Dodds (Andy Karl). In part two of the finale, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Dodds headed to the house of corrupt officer Gary Munsun (Brad Garrett) to try and save his wife and kids.
However, when Benson walked out the two children, Gary put a gun to his wife’s head. When he finally looked away for a split second, Dodds came at him to save her — and in the process he was shot. He ended up having a stroke and died at the hospital. The toughest part of it all? Watch his father (Peter Gallagher) break down crying.
The season finale was also the last episode for five-season showrunner, Waren Leight, and he did give us a little bit of happiness at the end.
Tucker (Robert John Burke) actually asked Benson to get away with him for a bit (and of course, little Noah) — and off to Paris they went.
Mariska called Tucker’s presence on the show “a game-changer for me because not only is he as powerful—she’s such a powerful character—to have somebody that energetically matches her has been incredible,” she told E! “Also have somebody that understands because he’s even more complicated and a leader more than her. He’s so masculine and so strong and so powerful that she can [exhale] because he’s that, so [Benson] gets to be a different color.”
So, are you happy with the season 17 ending? Let us know! Also, you know you cried with Peter Gallagher (you can admit it).
