1. She was a child star — and you’ve probably heard of her before
Alisan has been acting since she was just a toddler, and she made her first television appearance in 1987. Her most well known role is as Curly Sue in the 1991 movie of the same name, but she hasn’t starred in a film since a small feature in 2008’s Meet Dave. However, at age 18, she starred as Urleen in Footloose on Broadway before shifting her focus to music.
2. The Voice isn’t her first singing competition
She actually competed on Star Search when she was just five years old and became the youngest participant to ever win the competition!
3. She’s struggled with substance abuse
During her Blind Audition on The Voice, Alisan revealed she was eight years sober (a blog post revealed that she decided to turn her life around in Oct. 2007, and she hasn’t touched a drink or drug since). She went to meetings and had treatment for four years throughout her recovery.
4. After getting sober, she totally turned her life around
Alisan married Brian Autenrieth in March 2012, and together they have two kids. Their son, Mason, was born in 2012, and their daughter, Aria, was born in 2014.
5. She’s made music on her own before The Voice
Alisan released her debut album in October 2009, then put out is follow-up, Who We Are, in Nov. 2014. However, it wasn’t until she landed on Christina Aguilera’s team on The Voice that she started becoming widely recognized, and now, we know her future in the music industry is VERY bright!
