Looks like the drama between ‘Teen Mom’ stars Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley has come to an end! The former couple, who share a daughter named Leah, have finally come to an official agreement about who will have custody over their 7-year-old — and it may not be who you think!
Teen Mom OG’s Amber Portwood, 26, and Gary Shirley, 29, have reached an agreement in their custody battle over their 7-year-old daughter, Leah. And since the May 23 decision, Amber has taken to Twitter to set the record straight about the TRUE details of their arrangement. And honestly, we did not see this one coming!

Gary will maintain primary custody of Leah with Amber agreeing to pay child support, the mom-of-one revealed on social media. And while it was initially reported that this decision was reached in a courtroom, Amber made sure to set the record straight via social media — insisting that SHE was the one who agreed to pay Gary and give him primary physical custody of her little “Boo Boo.”
“Ok..I’m the one who told Gary I would pay him money,” the Never Too Late author wrote. “And I also said he could have primary because he’s closer to her school.” Gary himself even backed up Amber’s claims by tweeting the same info — sounds like the two have become a pretty good team despite their 2013 breakup!

But while Shirley will remain Leah’s legal guardian, the former flames WILL continue to share joint custody. Apparently, the MTV star has even been paying her ex-fiancé $1,200 a month in child support since March 1, according to Us Weekly.
For those of you who need a refresher, the reality star lost custody of her daughter in 2011 after her home and car were vandalized, and Child Protective Services recommended Gary take over raising Leah. Amber was later sentenced to jail in 2012 following a December 2011 drug arrest — yikes! After her November 2013 release, both Gary and Amber agreed on splitting custody in 2015, so long as Leah’s dad retained primary physical custody.
But as fans may recall, Amber did at one time want to fight for primary custody of Leah during season 2 of Teen Mom OG. This all went down after Gary repeatedly barred his one-time girlfriend from spending time with their child. But now it seems like the two have definitely come to a fair settlement, and Amber certainly appears to spend plenty of quality time with her daughter!

Most recently the tv personality shared a sweet snapshot on Twitter of her little one happily sitting in the back of her convertible on Sunday, May 22. And Amber seems quite happy herself as she is now engaged to Matt Baier. Gary has also moved on and is married to Kristina Anderson, with whom he shares daughter Emilee Grace, 14 months.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — what do you think about Amber and Gary’s arrangement? Do you think Gary having custody is for the beset?
