From her very first performance on the show, it was clear that Alisan Porter would be deserving of the title of THE Voice. She blew everyone away with her rendition of “Blue Bayou,” and then touched our hearts by sharing her story of going from a child star (hi, Curly Sue!)…to an addict. Even though all four coaches turned around, Christina Aguilera was the obvious choice, and the ladies proved to be a perfect pair all season long.
During the Battle Rounds, Lacy Mandigo really gave Alisan a run for her money when they performed “California Dreamin’,” but Xtina clearly made the right choice by keeping the 34-year-old on her team. Alisan then went on to win her Knockout Round against Daniel Passino, an artist so talented, he was even brought back by Pharrell in the Live Playoffs. Christina definitely didn’t make the road to the Finals easy for her girl, huh?!
By the time the Live Playoffs rolled around, America had already fallen in love with Alisan, and she killed it once again when she sang “Cry Baby,” easily earning the public’s vote into the Top 12.
She continued her run with an emotional performance of “Stone Cold” in the Top 12, which earned her a spot in the coveted Top 10 of the iTunes Charts. For her Top 11 song, she chose “Stay With Me Baby,” followed, the next week, by “Let Him Fly,” which also earned a Top 10 iTunes spot. Her next performances were of “Cryin'” and “Desperado,” and she was continuously voted through without ever being at the bottom of the pack.
Alisan solidified her win in the Finals with her original song “Down That Road” and cover of “Somewhere” from West Side Story. It was truly a remarkable and epic journey, and we can’t wait to see where her career takes her!
