Say it ain’t so! Selena Gomez always looks SO happy when she hangs out with her fans after concerts, but just like Justin Bieber, she may be putting a stop to these fun meet and greet sessions. Find out why she’s following in her ex’s footsteps here!
Selena Gomez, 23, fans aren’t going to be happy about this. The singer revealed on Instagram that she might no longer be able to mingle with her fans outside concert arenas after her shows — oh no! Interestingly, this decision comes not long after her on/off love, Justin Bieber, 22, told his loyal followers that he would no longer be taking fan pictures. Yikes!
“Meeting you guys after my shows has been such a highlight,” Sel wrote alongside a photo of herself with a huge group of fans. “But because your safety is priority and most important if we can’t keep them contained I’ll have to stop. I’ll do it for as long as I can, but you matter most. Love you guys.”
Okay, so this situation is majorly different than what went down with Justin: First, he cancelled fan meet and greets at his concerts, claiming they left him “depressed,” and then, he said he wouldn’t take pictures with fans at all anymore. “It has gotten to the point that people won’t even say hi to me or recognize me as a human, I feel like a zoo animal and wanna be able to keep my sanity,” he explained. “I realize people will be disappointed but I don’t owe anybody a picture. and people who say ‘but I bought ur album!” know that you got my album and you got what you paid for AN ALBUM! It doesn’t say in fine print whenever you see me you also get a photo.”
And when he was criticized for the decision, he fired back in defense. “If you think seeking boundaries is being a douche I’m the biggest douche around but I think it’s smart and will be the only way I last,” he explained. “I wanna enjoy life and not be a slave to the world and their demands of what they think I need to do!! I love the fact that I am able to make people happy but cmon if you truly were in my position you would understand how tiring it is. I’m going to keep making decisions I feel are fit for my growth and no human being will make me feel bad for it.”
Luckily for Selena fans, all they’ll have to do is be a bit more controlled when waiting for her outside the venues, and nothing will have to change! Got that, Selenators?!
Do you think Selena will stop meeting fans, too, HollywoodLifers?
