It’s absolutely heartbreaking that FOUR contestants will have to go home on the May 17 episode of ‘The Voice’….especially after everyone gave such great performances in the Semifinals. But, after careful consideration, here’s my finalist picks!
With just one week until The Voice finale, half the singers are moving on…and half are heading home. We’ll find out who America voted through during the May 17 episode, but ahead of the big results show, I’ve narrowed down my Top 4. Check it out and let me know if you agree with my decision!

Here are my finalist picks: Alisan Porter and Bryan Bautista, from Christina Aguilera’s team, Hannah Huston, from Pharrell’s team, and Mary Sarah, from Blake Shelton’s team. Sorry, Adam Levine, you’re getting no love from me this season!
It’s not that I don’t think the Maroon 5 singer’s artists, Shalyah Fearing and Laith Al-Saadi, are incredibly talented, but to me, they were just underwhelming in the Semifinals. Sure, the way Shalyah belted out Jennifer Hudson’s “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” was insane — especially considering how young she is — but it was nothing we haven’t heard from her before.
And Laith? I just don’t think the Semifinals were an appropriate time to try something so different, like taking on an Adele song. He should’ve stuck to what we’ve seen him do best: Old, blues-y tunes. Blake’s artists, Paxton Ingram and Adam Wakefield, were definitely impressive last night, too, but compared to Alisan, Hannah, Bryan and Mary, they just don’t make the cut for me.
Alisan, Mary Sarah and Hannah have been my three favorites for weeks, and they didn’t disappoint in the Semifinals. All three women showed incredible power in their voices, and also proved they don’t have to strain to make themselves sound great, which is something I personally feel Shalyah has struggled with. It was incredible to watch.
Ahead of the May 16 episode, my fourth finalist spot was totally up in the air, but Bryan really won be over. I loved that he shared a personal story about his strained relationship with is dad, then gave an emotional performance, while still keeping composed and sounding better than ever. It was totally impressive!
Make sure to check back tonight, because we’ll be live-blogging the entire results show as the eliminations are made. Of course, the Instant Save changes everything, and my opinion could be swayed based on who delivers tonight, but I’ll totally be pulling for my four faves to be called safe!
Who do you think should make the finals, HollywoodLifers? Who is your pick to win it all!?
