It’s going to be a long, hard search to find Michael Strahan’s replacement on ‘Live,’ but if you were hoping Ryan Seacrest would fill the spot, don’t hold your breath! HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE scoop on why he has no interest in being Kelly Ripa’s co-host.
Now that American Idol is over, could Ryan Seacrest, 41, be diving into morning television?! Since Ryan has such great experience in front of the camera, some have speculated that he might be the next person to sit beside Kelly Ripa, 45, on Live now that Michael Strahan, 44, is gone — but HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that this is the last job Ryan wants.
“The last thing Ryan would like to add to his schedule is Live,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He wants to do nothing with morning television right now because he has way too much on his plate with his radio show. Plus, he only wants to be in New York City for New Year’s — he loves L.A. way too much. So definitely take him out of the running!”
It’s true — the 41-year-old has an incredibly busy life in Los Angeles, and even without American Idol on his schedule, taking on Live would be a major commitment.
Meanwhile, after some major drama, Michael ended his run on the show on May 13, and even though it’s been reported that there’s tension behind the scenes, Kelly sent him off with an emotional goodbye. And no time was wasted ridding the 44-year-old from the show — a brand new logo has already been revealed for the May 16 episode, and other traces of Michael have already been removed from the set.
The process to find a permanent new co-host likely won’t be easy, but Kelly is already all set for the first two weeks after Michael’s departure: Jimmy Kimmel, Jussie Smollett, Cedric The Entertainer and Daniel Dae Kim are among the stars making guest appearances.
It’s been reported that Kelly’s pals Andy Cohen or Anderson Cooper may replace Michael, while Mario Lopez also hinted that he might be in the running for the job. We can’t wait and see who finally gets picked!
Do you think Ryan would be a good replacement for Michael Strahan, HollywoodLifers?
