It’s all about Kelly Ripa! Lots of changes are underway at ‘Live!’ including a new logo without her former co-host’s name, Michael Strahan. But that’s not the only way they are trying to move on from Michael’s departure, any picture or item of his left on the set has been reportedly thrown out!
Onwards and upwards! Michael Strahan‘s final show aired on May 13 and in 48 hours, the staff reportedly scrubbed the set clean of any trace of Michael. Although things seemed amicable during his farewell show, it turns out things are still a bit bittersweet for Kelly Ripa who is trying to pick up the pieces and find a new co-host. But when guests show up to the NYC set it will almost be like Michael never existed because there’s not one thing on set or in the halls to remind you of the former NFL star’s four year run on the show.
“There are pictures of [Michael and Kelly] in the hallway that greet all the guests,” an insider told Page Six. “And there are pictures of them in the green room. That will all be cleared out and removed. I wouldn’t call it redecorating, but it will be ‘refreshed.’ All that stuff will be boxed up.” Another source claims, “That’s consistent with what ABC has done in the past — it’s in line with how they have made other changes.” Meanwhile, that’s not the only major change. Kelly’s team quickly revamped the logo that simply reads Kelly Live! — which makes sense. But viewers didn’t seem to notice a hint of negativity when Kelly thanked Michael during this final show: “I just want to say, on behalf of myself and all of us, we couldn’t be prouder of you. You have given us so much joy in the mornings, from your smile to your sense of humor to your horrible French accent. We really are so, so proud of you. We’ve achieved so much together and I look forward to watching you every morning and seeing what you achieve.”
Kelly isn’t going to have a hard time finding famous faces to fill in. So far she has Jimmy Kimmel, Jussie Smollett, Cedric the Entertainer, Daniel Dae Kim, Fred Savage, Seal and Andy Cohen on her lineup. As for whether Anderson Cooper will take Michael’s coveted spot, it’s still up in the air.
But as Justin Bieber always says, never say never. Michael did make sure to say he would totally come back to co-host if ever there was a need. “I’m not dying! I’m still in the family, and I’m still available to come back if I’m ever called to co-host.”
HollywoodLifers, are you sad that Michael is not on the show anymore?
