Who knew that Justin and James had so much in common? After news went viral that Justin had declared he was no longer taking pictures with fans, James stepped up and shared that he totally stands by the young singer’s decision. Interestingly enough, James revealed that when he was the star of the biggest television show for young adults, he, too, felt like a “circus animal” that no one really cared about. “I remember feeling like a circus animal, feeling like people didn’t give a shit about me as a human being. I remember thinking all they wanted was a pic and wouldn’t care if I got hit by a bus afterwards. I felt all that. I get it,” James wrote as part of the caption to a photo of himself going “incognito.” In the photo, James is wearing a bucket hat and glasses in an attempt to go unnoticed in public.
James continued, “It’s easy to call Bieber a selfish a–hole. Easy to have zero sympathy for a famous rich kid who doesn’t want to take pictures with excited little girls… But having tasted a little bit of what he seems to be drowning in… I just wanted to insert a little perspective. Fame isn’t ‘hard’… But it’s tricky. There are a lot of potholes, and if you’re not surrounded by the right inner circle, you’ll trip.”
Although it’s a major bummer that Justin is taking a break from fan selfies, it is really great to see that he has someone on his team. Someone who has been through exactly what Justin is going through, and someone who understands what it’s like to be the center of attention everywhere you go. Hey, maybe these two should spend some time hanging out together to pick each other’s brains!
