‘Game of Thrones’ sort of coasted for all of season 5, and I was afraid season 6 would do the same. However, after Daenerys’ fiery final scene and the reunion seen around the world during the May 15 ep, this season is going to be the best yet.
Game of Thrones just took the show to a whole new level. The May 15 episode was one of the best episodes in years. After seasons of teasings plots coming together tiny bit by tiny bit, fans finally saw the payoff. And it was glorious.

Game of Thrones has always been good, but it’s been a while since it’s been great. For most of season 5, I felt like there were too many storylines that weren’t coming together. It was just too much to keep up with.
That’s how season 6 started, and I was terrified that the show would continue stringing me along. That all changed on May 15.
Jon Snow and Sansa FINALLY reunited. It’s a moment I had been waiting to see for so long. The show had been building this reunion up for so long. Sansa had escaped Ramsay and found Brienne, but I was skeptical about if the show would really reunite these two members of the Stark family after so long.
I mean, Jon and Sansa haven’t shared a scene since season one. So much has changed since then. But after watching last night’s scene multiple times, it was worth the wait. It was truly a perfect moment. You could really see how much these two have grown since the last they saw each other.
But let’s talk about that Daenerys scene. After pretty solid storyline last season, I was desperately hoping the show wasn’t going to put Dany on the back-burner in season 6. I don’t even know why that thought crossed my mind. It’s DAENERYS, for crying out loud.
Khal Moro and the other khals tried to tear Dany down, but she remained formidable. She proved in last night’s episode that she will never accept defeat and never conform to what men want. You can’t keep Dany down. When she walked out from the flames naked — similar to what she did in season 2 — it was like an awakening for the show and her character. It was a beautiful moment that showed just how powerful a leader Dany truly is. The show has hadn’t the best track record of treating women well, but the tide has officially shifted. I can’t wait to see where it all goes next.
