Devon Still’s inspirational daughter Leah had the time of her life at her dad’s wedding at the New York Public Library on May 13, in what was a joyous occasion for all involved. She even hit the dance floor to jam to “Uptown Funk” and you can see the adorable video here!
This is just the best! Only 2-years ago Leah Still, 6, was fighting for her life after being diagnosed with stage-4 neuroblastoma. Fast-forward to May 13, 2016 and she’s happily dancing at her dad’s wedding! Aw! This story absolutely warms the heart and the video is just awesome!
Devon Still, 26, married his longtime girlfriend Asha Joyce, also 26, in a beautiful ceremony at the NYPL in front of 180 guests. But the real star of the show was Leah, who was only given a 50/50 chance of survival back in June, 2014 after being diagnosed with cancer.
However, tough Leah defied the odds and was discharged from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and is now cancer-free, which meant she could walk down the aisle as a flower girl for her daddy’s big day and even get down to a bit of “Uptown Funk” on the dance-floor with a choreographed dance with the newlyweds. Leah also made a toast during the reception.
As for the day itself, Asha looked stunning in a white embroidered wedding gown, while Devon looked incredibly handsome in a black tuxedo and bow tie. Leah looked pretty in pink with her princess-style dress too, in what looked like the most beautiful wedding of the year.
Devon and Asha were originally planning on getting married before Leah’s cancer diagnosis, but put their nuptials on hold. He explained, “After we got engaged we put off on the wedding because my daughter was supposed to be the flower girl. When the doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of surviving, we were not sure that we were ever going to get to that point where I was able to watch her walk down the aisle. Now that we are going into the wedding, I think it’s finally hitting us that we are over that hump. She really beat cancer.”
