When Bonnie goes all vampire hunter, steer clear. That was the advice that Enzo should have taken, but how do you really do that when it’s also the woman you love?
The finale of The Vampire Diaries left us with a lot of unanswered questions — but did close up a few doors. Here’s your warning: if you haven’t yet watched the end of season seven, you’re about to be spoiled.
Let’s start off on a positive note: Caroline (Candice King) and Alaric split. Alright, not so positive but we all saw it coming, even Rick. After their children — yes really — used their powers to open up the vault, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) headed inside. When Stefan survived, Caroline couldn’t contain her excitement, and well, Alaric noticed. Ultimately, Steroline fans did get the reunion kiss we were waiting for.
That’s about where the happiness ends. When Damon did get inside, he had to work fast — Bonnie (Kat Graham) was about to kill Enzo. And by about to, I mean she had a wooden stake halfway into his chest already. Luckily, Damon found whatever evil (or at least he thought he did) and burned it, breaking the curse. Aww Bonnie and Enzo, happily ever after. Or not.
Elena Ruins Everything… Again
Of course, Bonnie now forgave Damon, but while on the phone with her, Damon started hearing who’s voice — none other than Elena Gilbert. So whatever the evil was, was still there, and knew how to f–k with him. He had to follow her saying “help me,” pleading “I need you,” and in he walked– into the vault and the darkness. Enzo later went in after to save him — he wouldn’t let anyone else come so that he could risk his and only his life. Well, he was too late; Damon had already been possessed. And now, Enzo was too.
That’s right: the finale ended with Damon and Enzo killing a ton of people and hanging them upside down, meat locker style; Caroline, Stefan and Bonnie tried to figure it out — but also now spend their diaries writing “Dear Elena” letters. And for Matt, well he nearly died trying to save the crew once again, and after seeing the ghost of his ex fiancée, he wrote an entry to Elena revealing that he’s done with Mystic Falls for good. I mean, for season seven.
Honest review moment: I miss the killing at a school dance, or festival, or the grill. Crazed Enzo and Damon killing people and hanging them, while a now magic-less Bonnie realizes she has now lost her best friend and boyfriend? Dark, dark days. What did you guys think of the finale?
