Danica Patrick is lucky to be alive! The NASCAR driver wrecked her car during practice on May 13, and things got really scary when her vehicle burst into flames! Click to watch this terrifying wreck!
When things heat up during NASCAR, they get practically scorching. However, racer Danica Patrick, 34, will be happy if things cool down, especially since she came so close to roasting alive inside her burning car!
Danica’s fiery wreck took place at Dover International Speedway on May 13, according to Fox Sports. Danica was just six minutes into practice for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race scheduled for May 15 when a gear in her car appeared to break. The No. 10 Chevrolet then spun out of Turn 4 on the track and Danica’s car spewed oil all over the place. Now, wrecking cars plus oil means only one thing: fire!
Everyone was scared for Danica as her car was suddenly bathed in flames! Thankfully, the fire seemed to extinguish quickly and she was able to make it out of her car before things got deadly. Phew! Danica even tried to keep her spirits up afterward, but she still seemed a bit bothered that she came close to being a human baked potato.
“I don’t know if it was human error or bad luck,” Dana said, according to USA Today. “I hit the wall. Obviously, there was some kind of oil or something that created that. It’s not something we commonly see.”

Dana’s main concern was for Tony Stewart, 44. Tony and Jamie McMurray, 39, also wrecked as their cars skidded across the track when they hit some of the oil from Danica’s car. “That hurt,” Tony said after his car hit the wall at full speed. He climbed out of his car gingerly and didn’t say anything to reporters after he was released from the medical center. Jamie, meanwhile, iced his elbow which was banged up in the wreck.
Tony missed the start of the 2016 NASCAR season due to a back injury. He was hospitalized after a dune buggy accident and had only started racing in NASCAR about a month ago. Considering Tony’s said he’s retiring from NASCAR at the end of the 2016 season, the last thing he wants to do is miss any more races. Hopefully he’s okay because this accident would be a terrible way to end his season – and his NASCAR career!
Are you glad that Danica is okay, HollywoodLifers?
