We knew Stana Katic wasn’t coming back to ‘Castle’ even if it did continue past season eight — but now that it’s over, she’s released a new statement about her ‘unforgettable’ time. Additionally, what will this mean for the
season series finale?
Stana Katic is not only saying goodbye to Beckett — she’s also now saying goodbye to Castle. Following ABC cleaning house, canceling a slew of shows including hers, Stana took to Twitter to post a hand-written goodbye and thank you to everyone who watched the show. So, will she be killed off on the finale? Well, ABC actually had taped two endings, in case they got cancelled.
“Dear Castle fans, cast and crew,” her letter began. “Your devotion to our show has carried us for these unforgettable eight seasons. I’m lucky to have met and worked with and for the lot of you. I will always be grateful. Big hug, X Stana.”

While the promo makes it look like Stana’s character may die on the finale, ABC did previously reveal that had filmed an alternate ending to use in case they had been cancelled.
“We have one ending, a cliffhanger that we’re excited about, because we believe in Castle and we believe that ABC will hopefully, hopefully bring us back,” co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter told our sister site, TVLine, about the May 16 finale. “We have one ending, a cliffhanger that we’re excited about, because we believe in Castle and we believe that ABC will hopefully, hopefully bring us back.”
“We have crafted a final scene that would exist only if we weren’t coming back, one that we don’t really want to get into,” co-showrunner Alexi Hawley added. “Because our hope is that it never airs,” Terrence added. But unforutnaltey, it will — and we’ll miss Castle.
