So sad. James McAvoy and his wife of nine years, Anne-Marie Duff, are calling it quits, the couple confirmed on May 13. Find out all the details here.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we have come to the decision to divorce. We enter this next phase with continued friendship, love and respect for one another and the shared focus of caring for our son. We ask that you respect our and, most importantly, our child’s privacy during this time,” the couple said in a statement provided to HollywoodLife.com.
James and Anne-Marie, who is also an actor, will not only remain friends, but co-parent their 5-year-old son, Brendan.
James will next appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, which opens later this month, while Anne-Marie is a regular on the Showtime show Shameless. James and Anne-Marie actually met while both starring on Shameless. Anne-Marie played James’ character’s love interest, and their real life romance blossomed from that point forward. They married on Oct. 18, 2006. Once they wed, James told Ryan Seacrest that “The world seemed less scary…. And I started to like myself a little bit more.”
