As far as we’re concerned, there’s nothing better than leaving the salon with a fresh blowout. But mastering the volumized style with undone waves at home seems nearly impossible. That is, until model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and her hairstylist BFF showed us the exact how-to. Get the details, ahead!
We’ve yet to see Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 29, suffer from a bad hair day, and as the spokesmodel for Moroccanoil, we doubt we ever will. But Rosie’s on a mission to help all of our hair out, sharing her stylist’s step-by-step routine for her signature “Rosie Blow Dry,” so we can all rock model-worthy waves right at home.
Rosie’s full of helpful beauty hacks on her Snapchat account (seriously, if you’re not following her at RoseieHW yet, you’re missing out). And her latest tips come straight from her hairstylist, George Northwood — with a Beyoncé soundtrack for good measure.
With Rosie’s hair nearly completely dry, George used a big round ceramic brush and a blow dryer with the concentrator nozzle attached to blow dry small sections of Rosie’s hair out, starting with the ones underneath and working his way to the top.
Keeping resistance on the hair as he blew each section dry, George used the brush to twist the sections into waves once they were completely dried smooth. When he got to the front section of Rosie’s hair, George blow dried her hair forward to create a sweeping look at the front. “If you’re struggling to do your own blow dry, tip your head upside down [because] it makes it easier,” George says of mastering the at-home blowout.
Once Rosie’s hair was blown out smooth, George used a curling iron to create piece-y texture to her look. “Tong away from the face to give it some shape around the front,” George says of the face-framing sections of your hair. Then, alternate curling your hair away from your face and towards your face. Once the curls had cooled, Goerge brushed through them for an undone, natural look and sprayed Rosie’s hair with Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo for Light Tones to give her blowout volume and staying power.
