It doesn’t take long for Carson Daly to start revealing some results — he reveals that at the top of the episode that America has saved Hannah Huston, Pharrell’s only remaining artist. That means the “Happy” singer gets to stay in the competition after already losing two of this three finalists. YAY!
After an epic performance from Grammy-nominated singer James Bay, the remaining eight singers are gathered on stage to find out their fate. Christina’s artist Bryan Bautista, along with Blake’s Adam Wakfield, are the next two revealed to be moving on, leaving six left waiting for more results.
Andy Samberg joins Coach Adam on the stage next for a hilarious performance of their song “I’m So Humble” from the upcoming movie Popstar. LOL, it’s definitely a great way to break up the nerve-racking, intensity of the night!
Next, Carson announces that America has voted Laith Al-Saadi, from team Adam, and Mary Sarah, from Team Blake through to the Semifinals. Only four left, and the Bottom 2 will have to perform one more time for America’s Instant Save vote!
When Alisan Porter (Team Christina) and Shalyah Fearing (Team Adam) are announced safe, Nick Hagelin (Christina) and Paxton Ingram (Blake) are left as the Bottom 2. Nick is no stranger to this position, as he won America’s Instant Save just last week.
But it’s Paxton who’s up first, and he gives a beautiful rendition of “How Will I Know” in hopes of keeping himself in the competition. “That is a way that you sing to save yourself!” Pharrell gushes — and we could not agree more. Nick gives a gorgeous performance too, though, when he sings “If I Could Change The World,” and it’s definitely going to be a tough decision.
The vote is a dead tie after about three minutes, and when the graphic showing the results is taken off the screen, it’s basically impossible to guess who will be safe and who is going home. But, finally, the decision is revealed, and Carson announces it’s Paxton who’s made the Semifinals — by less than 100 tweets.
Here’s where the teams stand after tonight:
Christina: Bryan Bautista, Alisan Porter
Blake: Adam Wakefield, Mary Sarah, Paxton Ingram
Adam: Laith Al-Saadi, Shalyah Fearing
Pharrell: Hannah Huston
Keep refreshing because we’ll be updating all night long as the results are revealed!
