Selena & Orlando: Where Did They First Meet?
As far as anyone knows, the first time Selena and Orlando locked eyes on each other was at 2014’s WeDay in California. A group picture from the event shows Selena cozying up to Orlando, and the pair is surrounded by other celebrity participants like Seth Rogen. Unfortunately, the photo caused major drama with Selena’s on-again/off-again love, Justin Bieber, who was totally jealous of her flirting with Orlando at the time. This is pretty ironic, mostly because Justin had previously been linked to Orlando’s ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, just a few months earlier in Oct. 2013.
Apparently her fight with the Biebs didn’t change her mind about Orlando, because Selena was spotted hanging out with The Hobbit star once again just a month later at a Chelsea Handler show. The pair were even photographed chatting after the show!
Orlando Supported Selena During Her Split From Justin
Selena continued to hang out with Orlando, and as HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY reported in May 2014, he became her shoulder to cry on when things went to you-know-what with her ex, Justin. Sources told us that Orlando had even invited Selena to come and “chant” with him at a Buddhist meeting as an attempt to help her find her inner peace.
Shortly after Selena and Orlando bonded as “friends,” there were reports that she might be trying to set him up with her then-single BFF, Taylor Swift. Obviously, that never happened — possibly because they were both too enamored with one another!
Justin & Orlando Finally Come To Blows Over Selena
Unfortunately, all 0f the positivity Orlando was absorbing during those chanting sessions didn’t get him very far when he had a nasty run-in with Selena’s ex, Justin, in Ibiza. As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, video of the scuffle shows Orlando swing at Justin, who allegedly “ducked” and avoided getting hit. Justin then yelled, “What’s up, b-tch?” to Orlando. Needless to say, it wasn’t a fun night for either of Selena’s guys.
Selena was totally “embarrassed” by Justin and Orlando’s fight, sources told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Unfortunately, the fight wasn’t much of a surprise to Selena since sources also told us that she more or less expects “something bad to happen” when he’s around. This makes a lot of sense, since it was later reported that Justin totally taunted Orlando by telling him to “say hi” to his ex-wife, Miranda, before the altercation went down. Later, Selena secretly sent a text to Orlando to apologize for her ex’s actions.
Selena & Orlando Team Up For A Second WeDay Together
After all of that, Selena and Orlando proved their friendship was still important by flying out to Vancouver, Canada together in Oct. 2014 to attend another WeDay event together. Unfortunately for Orlando, Justin was using his friend, Alfredo Flores, to “keep tabs” on Selena during the event — so they pair were forced to awkwardly avoid each other as much as possible.
Around the same time, Orlando slammed rumors that he and Selena were hooking up in any way, shape or form. Ouch.
Just four months later in Feb. 2015, Orlando was spotted leaving an Oscars after party with his ex, Miranda, and it apparently left Selena devastated. Even though Selena was also at the party, and without Justin, Orlando chose his baby mama, leaving Selena dealing with a “range of emotions,” sources revealed EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com.
But, it didn’t take long for Selena and Orlando to find each other again. In April that year, reports claimed that the pair were hooking up again, which was a real blow to Justin who had recently been taunted about their alleged affair during his Comedy Central Roast. Even worse? That July she was caught sneaking into Orlando’s home in the middle of the night — AFTER hanging out with Justin!
Orlando Moves On With Katy Perry — Or Does He?
After almost two years of on-again/off-again hook ups with Selena, Orlando finally decided to settle down with another hot singer: Katy Perry. The pair were first spotted together at a Golden Globes after party in Jan. 2016, but was seen hanging out with Selena once again during his birthday party. However, Orlando went full steam ahead with Katy, and soon after they were seen out again, and again, and again until it was pretty much official that they were together.
The hot new couple even wore matching Tamagotchi toys to the 2016 Met Ball on May 2, and they didn’t seem to have any interaction with Selena who was also at the big bash. But, unfortunately, it was all downhill from there.
Just five days later on May 7, Selena and Orlando were photographed getting a little too cozy for their own good inside a Las Vegas nightclub. In the pictures, Selena and Orlando are sharing a private booth, and he has his arm wrapped around her back as she repeatedly leans into him. In one photo in particular, it looks like they are even nuzzling!
