Is there a new romance blossoming in the ‘Game of Thrones?’ Joe Naufahu says there might be! The newest ‘Thrones’ star may have hinted at a romance between his character and a leading lady, and it might cause a lot of problems as the season progresses.
Plot twist! In a new interview, Joe Naufahu, 38, chatted about all things Game of Thrones on May 8, and hinted at some interesting storylines the show will address with his in episodes to come. And to hint, it’s not another death!
Joe revealed there may be some fireworks sparking between his character, Khal Moro and the Dragon Queen, Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, 29. “There’s definitely a spark and there’s definitely more fireworks to come,” the actor said on the The Lowdown with Diana Madison. “You’re going to have to wait and see.” Whoa!
For those who aren’t caught up yet, this may be a huge problem for the new couple because the two aren’t exactly on the same team. Daenerys is a widow of the late Khal Drogo, a close friend of Joe’s character. Although he was immediately attracted to her, he had to back off after she revealed her connection because of the “code.” And although this is a television show, the Joe says the “guy code” still applies.
“There’s a code man. There’s a bro-code. A bro-thraki code,” he said jokingly. “That’s what’s cool about my character, he’s a Dothraki and he’s trying to play Casanova but he knows there’s a code and you don’t mess with your boy’s girls.”
Despite the secret chemistry, the two might not get the chance to see where there romance goes. According to the community’s law, Daenerys has to go to Vaes Dothrak, where the rest of her community lives. Joe admitted that he was the one sending her away but it was for a good reason. “I think the thing for Khal Moro anyway was — I think what he really meant was — ‘If I can’t have you, no one can.’ That’s how I played it anyway. I’m not gonna get you because I’m loyal to the bro code and Dothraki ways, so no one is gonna have you.”
This isn’t necessarily the romantic fairytale we could’ve hoped for, but it can introduce a great conflict in the future. Unfortunately, Joe says he’s really good at keeping secrets, unless fans force it out of him with a couple of “tequila bottles.” So it looks like fans will have to wait until the Daenerys and Khal Moro love story plays out on the show.
But do you think the two should explore this romance or should Khal Moro stick to the “bro code,” HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
