Who is the biggest competition for you and Jodie?
I think our biggest competition is ourselves. Why I say that is because we set goals every week in terms of what we want to achieve. It’s like we’re competing against ourselves all the time to make ourselves better. If we start comparing ourselves to other people, it’s just not healthy.
What’s it been like dancing with Jodie?
It’s been great dancing with Jodie. I love dancing with her because she works hard and loves dancing. She wants to win so she gives everything. With that being said, it gives me motivation to create more things for her. It also tests my ability to create amazing stuff.
How are you and Jodie pushing yourself to get a 10?
Practice. We’re practicing even harder and making sure what we do is spot-on, crisp, fast, entertaining and fun.
How did you get involved with dancing?
I used to play soccer when I was young but I also watched dancing on TV like Michael Jackson. A good friend of mine said that soccer was not for me so I should try something else so I tried dancing and fell in love with it.
By the age of 7, I told my mom this was going to be my life. But it wasn’t easy growing up in my country dancing wise because it’s hard. Dancing is very expensive. The costumes, the lessons, the traveling, it’s a lot. But somehow I did it. I hustled, I worked, I did what I had to do and now everything is paying off.
What’s your favorite style of dancing?
I think everything because every style has its own vibe to it. But if I had to pick one I would say samba.
So, I hear you’re a singer, too!
In the shower, yes I am.
Would you ever perform on the show?
I’m not a professional singer, but I like to sing. I believe that I have a good voice. Until someone tells me otherwise. If I ever took singing classes, it would be awesome [to perform on the show].
Who is your dream partner?
I would like to work with Beyonce. Honestly, though, anyone who wants to be in the show, who’s dedicated and wants to work hard, I’m willing to give everything that I have to make them go far in the competition.
Would you ever cameo on Fuller House?
I would love to do a cameo It’s funny you ask that because I told her yesterday about doing an appearance on the show. And she was like, “Definitely.” I was at a dinner one time and the Fuller House people were there and talked to the producer. I was like, “Why not? Even if it’s just for one episode. Or maybe like three I don’t mind.”
