“Harry had no choice but to cut his hair for his new movie role,” a source revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “But Harry knows it’s all for a good cause, and cannot wait to get started on working on the film. He knows this is his first big break in Hollywood and he’s keen to do anything it takes to make it work, and that includes upsetting his scores of fans by cutting his hair.”
Harry had fans in a frenzy after he shared a picture on Instagram on May 6 that showed his hand holding a braided ponytail with the caption “Whoops.” He also included the hashtag “#Littleprincesstrust,” which hinted that he had chopped off his hair for charity — and while that was a sweet gesture, clearly there was another incentive for Harry! We’re so excited to see Harry make his big screen debut in Christopher Nolan‘s Dunkirk, but why would his role force him to get rid of his signature look? Well, Dunkirk is set during World War II in the 1940s, a time when no one had long hair (especially soldiers). Even though Harry has become known for his long locks, his director wasn’t going to let that slide!
“Christopher Nolan is a stickler for detail, and he did warn Harry that would be the case and he would have cut his locks if he got the role during the initial screening process,” our source added. Man, Harry must have really wanted that role to make such a hair sacrifice!
We have yet to see what Harry’s hair looks like since his dramatic chopping, but let’s be honest — as sad as fans may be that his long hair is gone, has Harry ever looked bad with any hairstyle? And considering he was willing to cut it all off just for a movie role, we’re thinking that it’ll be totally worth it in the end!
