Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool are one of the hardest teams to predict. With the help of Philippe Coutinho, they disposed of tournament favorites Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals, but their Premier League form remains patchy, which was highlighted by their 3-1 defeats at Swansea City. They just have this tendency to lose concentration at the most crucial moments!
But knowing full well that the Europa League presents their only opportunity in lifting silverware this year, as well as earning Champions League qualification for next season, they will throw everything they’ve got at the Yellow Submarine to ensure they go through to the final in Basel, Switzerland.
However, it won’t be easy against Villarreal. They have been very impressive this season in both the Europa League and their own domestic league, currently sitting in the top in La Liga only behind Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. That’s not too shabby!
With the roar of the crowd behind them, and all the eggs in the Europa League basket, Liverpool could just get the win they need to progress. Expect extra time though!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Liverpool will have enough in the tank to break down this stubborn Villarreal team and overturn the 1-0 deficit? Or will the Yellow Submarine kill the reds’ hopes of an epic final appearance.
