Oops! MSNBC’s Chris Matthews forgot to turn off his mic while covering the Indiana primaries and was caught totally obsessing over Melania Trump’s ‘model’ skills. Can you say, ‘Uncomfortable!’
Uh-oh! Chris Matthews, 70, is taking a lot of heat for his coverage during the Indiana primaries on May 3. The anchor was caught saying some pretty inappropriate comments about Melania Trump‘s, 46, physical appearance, and to give you a hint, feminists were not happy.
“Did you see her walk? Runway walk. My God is that good,” the MSNBC anchor said directed at Donald Trump‘s, 69, wife. While anchor, Brian Williams, 57, was heard discussing the impact that this victory would have on the Republican party, Chris continued unaware that his mic was still on. “I could watch that runway show.” Is anyone doing a face palm right now, because we definitely are.
The coverage quickly cut to a commercial, but by then, the damage was already done. Immediately, Twitter erupted, accusing Chris of being sexist. “The way you talk about Trump’s wife should get you thrown off the air. You’re a real slime ball,” one Twitter user said. Another said, “Chris Matthews is disgusting in every way.”
Melania also hit back at the news anchor, saying that she is an “independent successful woman” and not an object. “Melania Trump is an accomplished businesswoman and entrepreneur in her own right, achieving tremendous success in a variety of industries, including an illustrious modeling career, as well as being a dedicated wife and mother,” her spokesman told Variety.””It is unfortunate to see the continuous inaccuracies and misrepresentations made by the media of Mrs. Trump as anything less than the independently successful woman that she is.”
This isn’t the first time Chris has been accused of being sexist or a pig. And other times, he actually knew his mic was on. In 2011, he made some questionable comments about Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, according to the Daily Mail. “When she walks and moves, there’s something electric about it. Other candidates don’t do this. She’s constantly in motion. She looks, obviously, very attractive. She’s doing something that works,” he said.
Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, and Melania Trump are all businesswomen in their own right. Some one should probably tell Chris that it’s not okay to refer to women as sexual objects, and that he should check his mic next time.
