Two of the hottest young stars wore ponytails at the super fashion-forward Met Gala on May 2. The look is simple and easy to do yourself — get the look below!
Selena Gomez, 23, and Kendall Jenner, 20, both rocked sleek, sexy ponytails at the 2016 Met Ball in New York City. Tell us who you think rocked it better and get tips on how to rock the look yourself here!
A ponytail might not be what you think of when you think about the Met Gala, a stunning couture event, held every year in New York. But two stars rocked the look to perfection — and it worked both times!
Selena’s ponytail was sleek and full, and showed off her light brown hair and her darker, natural roots. We have a sneaking suspicion there were some extensions thrown in there, but it looked amazing. Her hair was styled by Lona Vigi. Selena is a Pantene brand ambassador, so get the look with a good foundation.
Start with the Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner for hydrated, healthy hair. Style with the Pantene Pro-V Smooth Serum With Argan Oil From Morocco to fight frizz and provide shine.
Selena’s makeup was done by Hung Vanngo using Kiehl’s Since 1851 skincare. “I wanted her eyes to be a soft, smoky black, so instead of liquid liner, I used thick lines of Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Raven and blended them out.
I added a few medium-length individual Ardell lashes, mostly on the outer corner of her eye, and then coated her lashes with two coats of Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara in Black Extase.
Instead of eye shadow, I did a wash of MAC Glitter Reflects Gold across her lid and on the lower lash line,” he told us.
Kendall Jenner’s Ponytail — Selena Gomez & Reality Star Rock Same Look At Met Ball
Kendall’s hair was done by Tokyo Stylez. It was sleek and straight and totally effortless. The key to a formal ponytail is to take a piece of the hair and wrap it around the base to hide the band. Secure with a bobby pin.
Kendall wore all Estee Lauder makeup, by Hrush Achemyan. She wore ‘Perfectionist’ Youth-Infusing Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 25 on her face, and set with the Perfecting Loose Powder. Her gorgeous highlight was thanks to the limited edition Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi-Palette. Her lashes were defined with Estée Lauder Sumptuous Knockout Defining Lift and Fan Mascara.
Kendall went sexy and slick at the Met Ball, but she also wore a ponytail at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 30 — that one was purposely messy and undone.
Which ponytail did you prefer or did you love both Selena and Kendall’s looks? Will you try to rock a ponytail at a formal event?
