Donald Trump is the last man standing! Just hours after Ted Cruz pulled out of the race for president, John Kasich suspended his campaign, claiming he had a different ‘purpose’ in life.
John Kasich is throwing in the towel — the governor of Ohio has officially dropped out of the race to become the GOP candidate for President. Yup, that means that with John calling it quits, Donald Trump will definitely be the Republican candidate.

After Trump’s big win in Indiana on May 3, Ted Cruz suspended his campaign, and now, John followed suit, according to CNN. Kasich canceled an event on May 4, choosing to hold a press conference at 5:00 p.m. ET to make his announcement. After recounting the deep connection he made with voters across the country, the Ohio Governor told reporters “I have renewed faith, deeper faith, that the Lord will show me the way forward and fulfill the purpose of my life. Thank you, and God bless.”
This news isn’t all that surprising, though, considering John was a distant third behind Donald and Ted in the race for the Republican candidacy. Ted and John’s decision comes after Donald’s overwhelming win at the Indiana primary, during which he took all of the state’s 57 delegates.

After the results were announced, Kasich’s camp claimed these results would “not alter” his plans for the election, but that clearly didn’t last long!
“From the beginning I’ve said that I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory,” Ted explained in his resignation speech. “Tonight, I’m sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed.”
Now, it comes down only to Donald to represent the Republican party, and he’ll take on the winner on the Democratic side, either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. So far, Hillary has pulled ahead in that race, but Bernie did just take home a win in Indiana, so we’ll have to a few more months to find out who’ll take on The Trump.
Are you shocked that Kasich is suspending his campaign, HollywoodLifers?
