Today, Donald Trump learned that he will be the Republican candidate in the Presidential race in Nov., since his only real competitor Ted Cruz officially suspended his campaign after a massive loss in the Indiana primary. We have all the details on his reaction to the news, right here.
Donald Trump, 69, was completely stunned on May 3 when he learned that not only did he win the Indiana primary by a landslide, but also that his only real competition for the Republican nomination, Ted Cruz, 45, has decided to suspend his campaign. You’ll never believe what he had to say about his former enemy, here.
Donald is clearly thrilled to be the unofficial candidate for the Republican party as of May 3. “It’s been an unbelievable day and evening and year, and we’re going to make America great again,” he said in a speech following the shocking news that Ted was dropping out. Surprisingly, he had nothing but glowing praise for his former competitor.
“I have to tell you that I’ve competed all my life, all my life I’ve been in competitions, whether it’s sports or business or for 10 months politics, and I have to tell you that I have met some of the most incredible competitors that I have ever competed against right here in the Republican Party,” he explained. “Just so you understand, Ted Cruz, I don’t know if he likes me or doesn’t like me, but he is one hell of a competitor. He is a tough, smart guy and he’s got an amazing future ahead of him. I want to congratulate Ted.”
He briefly addressed the fact that he and Ted have had an incredibly contentious race. “I know how tough it is, I understand how Ted feels, and Heidi, and their whole beautiful family, I just wanted to say that he’s one tough competitor.” He also mentioned other former competitors like Chris Christie and Ben Carson, explaining “we want to keep them totally involved because we’re going to win, we’re going to win in Nov,” which he followed with, “we have to bring unity.”

Then, Donald turned his attention to his new competitors. “We’re going after Hillary Clinton. She will not be a great President, she will not be a good president she will be a poor President, she doesn’t understand trade. Her husband signed the single worst trade deal ever done, its called NAFTA and I was witness to the carnage.” Watch your back, Hil!
