Two years before Prince died, he threw some shade at Justin Bieber during an interview with ‘Rolling Stone.’ The story was scrapped, but it has since leaked, following the singer’s untimely death on April 21. To find out what Prince said about Justin, keep reading!
Well, this is a bit awkward. In his final Rolling Stone interview before his death, Prince dissed Justin Bieber. The 2014 story actually never saw the light of day, but following Prince’s death on April 21, the interview is now resurfacing and it’s pretty shocking.
During his talk with the outlet, Prince was very candid. And while discussing his disappointment in the state of the entertainment industry, he threw some shade at the Biebs.
“You’re trying to find the personality first, make sure you’ve got that locked in,” Prince said, while arguing that music execs aren’t actually looking for real talent. “And it’s better if they got scandal on ’em or a reality show or sex tape. And they have it down to an art. They’re getting street cred for Justin Bieber now!”

We must note that Prince made these comments in 2014, so his feelings on the 22-year-old singer may have changed since then. Either way, it’s super unfortunate that Rolling Stone decided to release this interview. Obviously, Prince knowingly said what he said with the assumption that the interview would be printed, but now that he’s longer with us, he can’t defend the statements he made two years ago. People’s viewpoints change in that amount of time, and it’s possible he doesn’t feel the same way anymore.
