When Kit Harington‘s Jon Snow was killed off Game of Thrones last season, no one could believe it. Fans grasped to everything possible that could possibly show he’d be back — there were pics on set, he kept his long hair, and a wink from Emilia Clarke that we all wanted to be her confirmation he’d be back. For months and months and months (ten months, you guys!), the cast, the crew, everyone who was anyone said yes, Jon Snow is dead.
But they all lied. On this week’s episode, the Lord Commander was brought back to life by Melisandre, and basically, the entire world gasped. You know you did, even if you thought it may be coming.
“Sorry!,” Kit told EW, in his first interview after the secret came out. “I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone. I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a, similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right.”
